Imaging Realtime Joint Degradation

Imaging Realtime Joint Degradation

Protease activity degrades joint tissues after injury, causing arthritis progression over time. A new imaging technology allows us to visualize protease activity in real-time in the knee joints of living mice.

We see increased joint degradation within 1 day of an ACL tear. This is long before any cartilage damage is seen using other techniques. Using this technology, we can now test intervention strategies that prevent arthritis after knee injury.  Read more at the publisher’s website.
